About Gospel Over Gimmicks
There is certainly no shortage of online ministries these days and if you are anything like me, it's important that you know the theological leanings of the person behind the microphone, camera, keyboard, etc. So, for the sake of brevity, I'll give you a brief rundown of where I stand.
King James Only - I believe that God preserved his word in the King James Bible. I'm not going to be rude or belligerent if you don't believe that.
Dispensational - I believe in rightly dividing scripture. Anything else leads to confusion and exegetical backflips.
Pre-Tribulation rapture - The scripture seems pretty clear to me to indicate a rapture of the church prior to the 7 year tribulation period.
Traditional Soteriology - I'm not a Calvinist and I'm not an Arminian. I believe God has done everything necessary for you to be saved. The choice to receive or reject it is totally up to you.
My name is Richard Norman. Most people just call me "Stormin Norman" though. I got saved on July 5th, 1998, just 5 days before I turned 18. I wish I had some grand testimony of how I have faithfully served the Lord for 20+ years. However, that is not the case. I got away from God in my twenties... "backslid" if you will. Then, I found myself dating someone when I was 33 that had a lot of questions about the Bible and it occurred to me how little I knew. So, I jumped in and started looking for answers to her questions. What I found was conviction.
God showed me through his word that I was a pathetic example of a Christian. After that, I couldn't get enough. I was in the Bible all the time! So much that when I decided to go to college I decided to study what I enjoyed studying...the Bible. 4 years and 2 schools later I am studying for my Bachelor's degree in Theology at Asheville Baptist Institute. I also serve as a Sunday school teacher/substitute preacher at my church.
One day shortly after beginning this journey a couple of things occurred to me. One is that there are a lot of people out there who really have no idea what the Bible says about a lot of things. Whether they were Christians or unbelievers it seemed like people were just kinda forming an opinion on what scripture says rather than finding out themselves. The second thing was that King James Bible Believing Baptists don't seem to ever make any podcast. I decided I would try and remedy both of those things and Gospel Over Gimmicks was born in March of 2016.
